JOSEPH EVANS (trumpet) NYWOW 2010 & 2011; NYBBW 2011

Joseph is currently in year 10 at St. John's College and is in his second year in the ensemble. He studies the trumpet with Gareth Rees at the RWCMD's Junior Department and enjoys playing in various ensembles including CCVG Youth Wind Band and Youth Orchestra. 

 

ROBERT CUNNINGHAM (trumpet)

Robert, a year 10 pupil at the Bishop of Llandaff High School is in his third year with Symphonic Brass, having been one of the youngest players ever to have joined the ensemble. He is taught the trumpet by Gemma Jones and is also a member of both the CCVG Youth Wind Band and Brass Band. Robert is a keen sailor and is currently training to become a sailing instructor.

STEVEN SPARKES (trumpet) NYTCW 2009 - 11; NYCW 2010

Steven attends Bishop of Llandaff School and has been a member of Symphonic Brass since 2008.  He is a committed member of the Canton Corps of the Salvation Army and in his spare time enjoys archery.

JACK SEWTER (horn) NYWOW 2011

Jack is a year 11 pupil at Whitchurch High School who is taught the French horn by Robert Kay. He enjoys sports and is the current junior captain at Ridgeway Golf Club as well as being a former member of Rhiwbina Rugby Club. 

  

JOSHUA PENNAR (trombone) NYJW 2010 - 11; NYWOW 2011

Now in his third year with the ensemble, Josh is a sixth form student at Ysgol Gyfun Glantaf.  He is taught the trombone by Greg Morgan.

 

JAMES GROVES (trombone)

James, who is Head Boy at The Cathedral School, Llandaff, is in his third year with the ensemble. He is taught by Nye James and is a member of the County Youth Orchestra. James is also an keen sportsman, representing the Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan cricket team for the last three years, including a tour to South Africa.

 

PATRICK MORRIS (trombone)

Patrick is a year 9 pupil at Corpus Christi High School and is in his first season with Symphonic Brass. He is taught by Nye James and is a member of the County Youth Wind Band. Patrick enjoys playing the piano, plays cricket with Lisvane Cricket Club U15s and trains with Cardiff Athletic Youth Section.

 

TOM DOWNEY (bass trombone) 

Tom Downey, who is in his second year with the ensemble, is year 11 pupil at Stanwell School. He has a particular interest in rugby and is currently training to be a level 3 referee.
